“6 Days” is a new piece stemming from a collaboration of master machinima maker Joshua Diltz and artist-provocateur Joseph DeLappe, two people whose work I have long admired. Here is the introduction provided by Joshua: “’6 Days’ is an experimental documentary that examines the consequences of a military conflict that rages over a period of six consecutive days in a virtual game world. Through the lens of both a static and a roaming ground camera, the movie captures both visceral... favoritefavoritefavoritefavoritefavorite ( 2 reviews ) Topics: Sleeping Dogs Productions, Diltz, J. This is the second dance movie by JuniorX made in the World of Warcraft MMORPG, beta version. As with most movies made in massively-multiplayer games, the character actions are limited to emotes and moves built into the game. In this case, JuniorX relies on Orc dance and fighting moves, set to the tune of MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This." favoritefavoritefavoritefavoritefavorite ( 2 reviews ) Topics: JuniorX, World of Warcraft, Blizzard Entertainment

"Deity" is a clever parody of the Apple Macintosh "switch" advertising campaign, inspired by the common practice of switching character races and classes in World of Warcraft .Instead of switching from a PC to a Mac, the player switches from a Human Paladin to a Troll Shaman! - HEL Video podcast available at http://craftingworlds.com/switch Topics: Pope, Tristan, World of Warcraft, Blizzard Entertainment
"This machinima, made in March 2005, was inspired by the very funny and surreal "Dry Bones" hospital scene in the Dennis Potter play "The Singing Detective". It was also an opportunity for me to get to grips with the new FacePoser editor (an excellent tool for machinima) supplied with the Half-Life 2 sdk. The Rangers' "Diary of a Camper" (1996) is considered the first complete work of machinima (then known as Quake movies). Here is a snippet from my (HEL) "High-Performance Play: The Making of Machinima," which covers the early history of this medium: "Arguably the most famous clan of all, the Rangers’ top-notch players contributed visibly to the technical community that grew around the game. They had participated in the first pre-release test of the Quake engine... favoritefavoritefavorite ( 1 reviews ) Topics: Quake, id Software, Rangers (Clan), United Rangers Films
This is a fresh capture of the first Quake movie, arguably (therefore) the first example of what later came to be called Machinima. This was captured on the occasion of the (nearly) 20th anniversary of the release of Diary of a Camper. It was captured using WinQuake v. 1.09 at 800x600 resolution. The video records loading of the demo file (also provided here), so that the process of demo playback is visible. For more information about this title, see the earlier upload to the Machinima... Part 1 of the Dracula machinima series from CandlelightStories.com. Parts 2 and 3 are available on the Archive. They are 'Dracula's Message,' and 'Dracula's Prisoner.' Bram Stoker wrote this fascinating gothic horror story. Some think it's a missing chapter from the novel, 'Dracula.' Others suspect Stoker wrote it several years before the novel. Whichever is true, the story stands on its own as a supreme example of its genre. We've made our first machinima animation to tell the tale.
